PROGRESSIVE DISCLOSURE
Progressive disclosure principle is being applied in designs to represent complex information in simpler forms. It involves dividing information into several parts so that it will not cause any confusion and frustration to the users due to the great amount of information.
Besides, progressive disclosure only present information that are relevant and highly required whereas as for the less frequently required information, they will be put under a 'read more' button which can only be access by clicking that button.
Example: Star online news' layout
Source: Printscreen of Star online
Explanation:
There are so many news being published through Star Online website. To make the layout simpler and less complicated, only certain news are being displayed and the rest are hid under "MORE NATION NEWS" button.
